Born in Leeds West Yorkshire.

Trained nurse (Addenbrookes Hospital) midwife (Oldham and District General Hospital) and health visitor (Southampton University). Worked in the NHS all working life.

Married with three grown up grandchildren and four grandchildren - lives in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire for 11 years.

Lindis woke up to the issue of nuclear weapons while working as midwife at Southampton General Hospital in 1979, she learnt about Cruise missiles to be deployed at Greenham Common and engaged in this campaign.

1990 start of involvement NSA Menwith Hill - joined in work of Otley Peace Action Group - first arrested under Menwith Hill byelaws 1990 - eventually ending up with case in High Court 1993 when byelaws declared invalid - tested byelaws four times

Co-Coordinator of the CAMPAIGN FOR THE ACCOUNTABILITY OF AMERICAN BASES (CAAB) working to bring public scrutiny and accountability to US Visiting Forces and their Agencies in the UK Arrested, detained and charged many times over 20 years, imprisoned 12 times.

Permanent injunctions around five US bases.

CAAB 1996 - first campaign to find out about crucial role UK has in George W Bush American Missile Defense System (STAR WARS) at Menwith Hill Station and Fylingdales (both in Yorkshire) CAAB deeply involved in campaign to stop AMD eg further legal action Brought action in High Court London (1999) for Injunction to stop construction of two Space Based Infra Red System radomes at Menwith Hill Station.

Lindis, a determined woman of great principle, was a speaker at Levellers Day 2002 on the theme of 'Space: Peace or War?'
