Cry Havoc

CRY HAVOC is a mixed Morris side and was formed in 1993 following our former squire and foreman Paul Ferret, who was part of the local amateur dramatic group, to get some friends together for a Morris dance sequence in a panto called 'Robin of Botley'.

The name 'Havoc' comes from Paul having a buzzard with the name at the time, and is the Old English for 'hawk' hence the emblem on our waistcoats. We dance a variety of styles based on traditional dances from villages like Bampton, Fieldtown, Adderbury, Headington , Bledington and many more. We have created and developed dances in our own style, one being 'Dogs of War' - so watch out for this one!

Last year CRY HAVOC celebrated its 10th anniversary. Though we have grown in numbers, we still invite new members who enjoy Morris dancing and want to meet new friends, and of course enjoy drinking .... (this is optional) to join us.

Practise evening Thursday Sept-May (summer season May-July).
